Forensic Photography

Forensic Photography

Forensic Photography has a wide range of applications and uses.  Crime Scene or Accident Investigations are most common.  Providing visual identification and preservation of evidence for future review and study is the primary function of a Forensic Photographer.  This can encompass a variety of cases such as Break & Enter, Theft, and Vandalism.  In addition to crime scenes, a Forensic Photographer is regularly summoned for other investigations such as Automobile Accidents, Fire Investigation, Building and Engineering failures.  A Forensic Photographer is required to record and preserve evidence at fatalities and is part of a team when Autopsy Photography is necessary.

Docufraud will send a trained forensic investigator and photographer to an accident or crime scene to collect and document evidence for use in both criminal or civil proceedings. Evidence collected will be transported to our laboratory for a detailed examination using the latest state-of-the-art high-resolution forensic microscopic equipment.  Our findings will be verified by a forensic examiner qualified to testify and present evidence on your behalf as an expert witness. We will prepare a court ready forensic report for acceptance by courts in all jurisdictions within Canada and outside of Canada.

Here is a short list of some of the evidence our forensic photographer will consider and preserve for future evaluation and examination:

Fingerprints and shoe impressions can be valuable pieces of evidence to eliminate a witness or suspect from further investigation.  Prior to dusting and lifting a fingerprint or shoe impression, a full series of photographic images are taken of the immediate vicinity and area of interest.  Close-up photographic images are taken of the print prior to lifting.

Forensic Light Sources

Ultra-Violet and Infrared lighting is often used at a crime or accident scene by a forensic photographer.  Special forensic lighting is a useful aid to identify areas of interest that may conceal critical evidence not visible to the naked eye.  Our forensic investigator is experienced in the use of UV and IR lighting to enhance the effectiveness of photography and evidence gathering.

Accident, sudden death or fire investigation, structural or engineering failures.  Any of these will result in teams of police or fire investigators attending the scene, problem is they don’t share their findings.  This can be very concerning, even more so if an accident or incident includes a fatality.

It is not uncommon for police or fire investigators to overlook evidence or consider some evidence unimportant.  This is where the role of a forensic photographer and forensic investigator will prove indispensable.  Our photographer will capture a photographic representation of the entire scene that will include visual documentation of areas of interest or importance.   You will have the means to conduct your own due diligence and parallel investigation without waiting months or years for an official report.

Docufraud’s forensic laboratory and forensic investigators are here to represent and protect your interests.  You’ll have the ability to form an unbiased and independent conclusion of your own.
